Retail Price: $119.95

Speedy’s Rating:           4  /  5

Bell Sports Inc. has a long history in making dependable and safe racing helmets since 1954. It may come as a surprise to some that Bell Racing offers a wide assortment of other gear, including shoes. Bell’s “Viper” boots continue the same legacy of excellence started by their line of helmets.

Style:  4 / 5
When unpacking the Viper boots you will be pleased to find that these look more like high-end court shoes rather than your average safety boots.  Color is an easy choice as long as you like black; seeing how that is the only color offered.

Comfort:  4 / 5
When picking out the size, there are no confusing European conversion charts. Bell offers the shoes in US Men’s sizes 4 all the way up to 14.  The boots are very well constructed and fit true to size.  At first the boots might appear to be on the bulky side, but they break in fast and have no uncomfortable pressure points.

Safety:  5 / 5
These mid-top boots offer thick ankle protection preventing the chance of ankle chop in the case of an accident. Bell has essentially made a helmet for your foot. The boots are full Nomex lined and have the SFI Certification 3.3/5 which offers 10 seconds of fire protection.

Practicality:  4 / 5
The sole of the boot has an aggressive but soft rubber tread which offers good grip on the pedals as well as in the paddock.

Overall: 4 / 5
Bell’s Viper boots are a great value with a street price around $80 and look great if you don’t mind the thick ankle protection.
